The situation
Reporting that has to be assembled by hand does not get assembled often enough to be useful. The client needed the analysis layer built properly, and then the storage underneath it extended to carry what the analysis needed.
What we did
Delivered in two commissioned stages rather than one: the business-intelligence work first, so the client could see the output and judge it, and the data-warehouse component afterwards, sized against what the first stage had proven was needed.
What came of it
22 development days delivered across two stages, two months apart. The second stage was commissioned only after the first had been delivered and invoiced.
